Five years ago, Brad and I were where a lot of folks were—scared, confused, and trying to make sense of a world that suddenly felt upside down.
The pandemic rocked everything. Like everyone else, we were asking the big questions—What really matters? What do I want to do with my life?
Despite the world seemingly falling apart, we did have a few things going for us—some ʻāina, a seed collection that (if we're being honest) bordered on hoarding, and a love for growing food.

So, we got to planting. Pretty soon, we realized that this hobby of ours was the way forward. And just like that, the idea of Polipoli Farms was born.
Farming wasn’t just a side project anymore. It wasn’t just a dream we’d talk about over dinner. It became our way to care for ʻāina, feed our community, and find solid ground in uncertain times.
But let's be honest, we were naive. We had no idea the amount of literal blood, sweat, and tears (so many tears!) that comes with building a farm business.
But like my Pops always says, "You don't start, you don't finish."
Polipoli Farms is how we live our values every day. It’s our way to give back to the place that raised us and help build a better future.
Here's the good news—you don’t need a farm or a stash of seeds to make a difference. Whatever it is you’re passionate about, whatever makes the world around you better, just remember: If you don’t start, you don't finish.
